Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Cloister is observed in Dominican convents so that the brothers may be better able to devote themselves to contemplation and study.

The proper effect of the Eucharist is the transformation of man into God.

Rarely affirm, seldom deny, always distinguish.

Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Becoming a good person

*TODAY'S TIP: HOW DO I BECOME A GOOD PERSON?* πŸ™πŸ»πŸ“–β˜•οΈ

*Readings:* Hebrews 7:1-3,15-17; Psalm 110: 1-4; Mark 3:1-6

*EVER HEARD* of the common priesthood of all Christians? It refers to the fact Baptism confers a priestly status on us. And like Christ, we have a duty to pray for and desire the healing of one another. _This duty should be carried out always and everywhere._ We are motivated to exercise our priesthood because of the love God has poured into our hearts.

*SINCE LOVE,* by its very nature, flows outwards, we ought to show good will to everyone we meet. _God grants peace to people of good will._ But some of us have chosen to reserve "our love" for special persons and special occasions.

*THE PHARISEES* were angry that Jesus would perform a healing on the Sabbath. It sounds ridiculous to us today. Everyone knows that good ought to be done always and everywhere. But we too suffer from a different brand of β€œselective goodness”. _We save our goodness for those who are good to us._ We only invest our time and resources in so-called β€œrelationships”. Most times, they end up in heartbreak because we did not learn the basic rule:

_GOODNESS OUGHT TO BE DONE TO EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE AND EVERY TIME WITHOUT EXCEPTION._

*Here is how to truly be a good person:*

πŸ“Œ *Appreciate* the kindness of others, no matter how little;
πŸ“Œ *Avoid* actions that will make people label you (selfish, gossip, liar, money-conscious, manipulative etc.);
πŸ“Œ *Be kind* with your words and your actions;
πŸ“Œ *Forgive* quickly;
πŸ“Œ *Make* the sign of the Cross often (it reminds you that God is always with you);
πŸ“Œ *Never* take advantage of the poor situations of others.
πŸ“Œ *Place* random calls to check on friends, family and colleagues;
πŸ“Œ *Remember* others in your prayers and let them know you prayed for them;
πŸ“Œ *Say* out loud what you are worried about and tell God to help you with them;
πŸ“Œ *When* you are tempted to curse someone, bless them instead. And God will surely bless you too.

_*Lord, grant that I may be truly good and pleasing to you and to everyone I meet. Help me to heal others by my actions through Christ our Lord, Amen.*_

Our way of Life

Our Mission

Our mission is Preaching for the salvation of souls. We have been called to proclaim the Gospel to every corner of the world, so that every soul may come to know and love Jesus Christ.

The Vows

Poverty, obedience and chastity make us men who try to consecrate ourselves for the adventure of the Kingdom of God.

The Four Pillars

The Dominican Spirituality is most times described in terms of our four pillars: prayer, study, community and ministry.

Quotes

The most important question we need to ask ourselves is: how best are we to love God above all things and how best are we to love our neighbor in our community life and apostolic life?The question goes to the very heart of our Christain vocation: How do I love? how do we love? Every other question is secondary and must be related to this primary question.

Anthony Akinwale, OP. 6th Dominican Provincial Chapter, 2017

A Dominican is a canon by profession, a monk in austerity of his life, and an apostle by his office.

Our communual life of faith is a deep manifestaion of our commitment to our common life and our Dominican Spirituality. However, we must beware that your external practices of faith do not outweigh our internal/interior practices of faith.

Interior silence and habitual recollection create the environment for super-natural contact. Mental disturbance is a hinderance to interior prayer. That disturbance is the consequence of our immersion in the life of the world that has little or no interest in mysticism.
